Collection of recycling is provided bi-weekly; please refer to the attached Waste Calendar to determine your zone.

Recycling must be at the curb no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the day prior to your collection day or before 7:00 a.m. on collection day. There cannot be any material set out on the road or in the gutter.

There is no limit to the number of recycling or compostable containers. Blue boxes are available free of charge to new residents of Sarnia owning a detached dwelling. Please claim your free blue box within the same calendar year as your move. Additional blue boxes can be purchased from Public Works and Customer Service, first floor City Hall for $7.00 per box.

Recyclables will be collected in 121 litres (32 gal) blue box, or small roll carts.

Plastics coded #1,2,4,5 & 6 are acceptable; separation of material is no longer required. There is no limit on the number of recycling containers, but must not weigh more than 22 kilograms (48 pounds) per container. Below is a breakdown of acceptable and unacceptable recycling material.
